THE CHALLENGE
Alfie Logo Gear, based in Traverse City, faced a challenge with their crimped seam metal roof system. During the harsh northern Michigan winter months, leaks were occurring near the roof edge due to ice dams caused by heat loss in the building. This resulted in water flowing into roof panel seams and fastener holes, causing damage to the roofing system.
SPRINGFIELD’S CUSTOM SOLUTION
Upon inspection and diagnosing Alfie Logo Gear’s specific needs, Springfield determined that a metal building retrofit system was the best solution for the building. This system is designed to provide insulation and membrane, reducing sound and preventing water from entering the building. Unlike the exposed metal of the previous system, the metal building retrofit system proved a more efficient and effective solution.
THE RESULTS
After the completion of the retrofit system, Alfie Logo Gear President and CEO Bonnie Alfonso reported that the leaks and ice went away immediately. Alfie Logo Gear also reported seeing a significant energy savings from the new system. Additionally, employees reported that the new system had provided a greater sound barrier, making it much quieter during rainfall.
